  • Legend of the Haunted Swamp

Back in the days when Corinne was, as the town put it, the Gentile Capital of Utah, there were several Union Army officers who settled there and became merchants.  The town nurtured 15 saloons and 16 liquor stores.  Prostitution, gambling, and gun fighting became common place in what would come to be known as Utah’s “Dodge City.”  The town was cursed by Brigham Young and soon after the railroad moved away, leaving the town desolate.  The merchants fled for other locations.  There was one wagon train of merchants, led by some of the original Union Army officers that, while on their way out of Corinne, cut northward, hoping to head for Idaho, when they encountered a swampy bog.  No one knows why they didn’t go around the marshland or walk out for help.  In fact, no one knows what happened to them at all, for they were never heard from again…
